The York Suburban All-Sports Booster Club spent over $35,000
during the 2009-10 school year in support of YS athletes. These
funds were used to:
- Award six $500 scholarships to deserving senior athletes.
- Allocate sport-specific funds which can be used to benefit
each high school team. Over $20,000 was spent supporting individual
team requests in 2009-10. A few examples are travel bags purchased
on behalf of the Cheerleading squad and Boys soccer teams, team camp for the boys and girls
basketball teams and indoor soccer fees for both the boys and
girls soccer teams.
- Pay half the cost of each athlete's banquet meal.
- Provides banquet and championship awards as needed by each
team. Last spring, the YS Booster Club purchased the boy's
Cross Country District Championship Jackets.
- Purchase flowers for senior parents to be presented at senior
night or banquet.
- Create a comprehensive fall sports program which is on sale
at all home football games.
- Sponsor pizza parties for middle school athletic teams.
In addition, the Booster Club provides a number of services to
the YS athlete and their families:
- Coordination of the creation of spirit posters for each high
school team to display in the school.
- Creation of a school directory which is distributed to all
high school students.
- Helps manage and operate the outdoor concession stand for
events at the stadium, as well as providing concessions at numerous
indoor athletic events.
- Sponsors "Meet the Teams Night" at the beginning of each sports
season.
- Sponsors "special" YS athletic events such as the York Suburban
Relays, the Suburban Slam 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament, the
Tip-off Boys' Basketball Tournament, the Holiday Girls' Basketball
Tournament, JV Girls' Volleyball and Boys' & Girls' Soccer
Tournaments.
These unique sporting events provide opportunities for our athletes
to participate in additional competition. These tournaments
also serve as significant club fundraisers.
As a result of our fundraising activities in the 2009-10 school
year, we are pleased to once again be able to provide the opportunity
for each YS sports team to earn $1,000 to $1,500 to use in the
2010-11 school year!!
